Problem
Kaizer Leather sells premium Italian leather goods, but the store was on PrestaShop and its SEO was weak. The client wanted to move to WooCommerce and was worried about it. A platform move can mean weeks of re-entering products, broken links and lost rankings. Luxury shoppers also bounce when photography is cramped, shipping and payment are unclear, or the page stutters, so the new store had to match the brand's positioning, not use a default WooCommerce skin.
What I did
- Wrote a custom WordPress plugin that pulled every product from the live PrestaShop store through its API, so there was no manual data entry.
- Kept every URL identical to the old store, so there were no 404s and no broken links from Google or anywhere else.
- Had the full store live on WordPress in 7 days.
- Overhauled product templates: imagery, materials, and trust content above the fold on mobile.
- A shorter checkout, so paying was a quick path, not a form maze.
- Did page-speed work on listing and product URLs (the pages Google and ads send people to).
- After launch, optimized the titles, meta descriptions and product image alt tags, submitted a new sitemap in Google Search Console, and started blog content.
Outcome
The client moved platforms without the disruption they were worried about: no manual re-entry, no broken URLs, and a full store live in 7 days. The store now ranks well, and the live WooCommerce store presents at the level of the product. If you're still choosing between Shopify and WooCommerce, my comparison covers cost, fees and SEO.
